Lucinda, Scu & NTF - Bescot Spring-ing

Slim pickings for us National Hunt fans at the minute.....

As promised here is the next (mini) instalment from my visit to the Lucinda Russel yard (22-11-10).

There were a couple of the yards novice chasers getting their 'eye in' over the practice jumps whilst I was there including their Saddler's Hall 5yo BESCOT SPRINGS.

Take a look at the promising prospect popping over a couple of the fences in one of the schooling fields at Arlary House -

The gelding made his chasing debut at Hexham at the start of November and was unlucky not to land the spoils on his first attempt at the chasing game, going down by an agonising 'head'.

This a young horse the yard think very highly of and if you take a look at the result of his first career start you can begin to see why; 3 lengths 2nd to Peddlers Cross (and we know what he has achieved since!) with the well thought of Sure Josie Sure 6 lengths further back in 3rd.

Soft ground or worse looks like being ideal and with plenty of stamina in his pedigree they will be hopeful of landing a decent race over 3m+ at some stage.

Improvement is expected now that he has had a competitive taste of chasing and providing conditions are in his favour next time he is one to be on the right side of.

Thank you for including the video of this impressive animal. He is a good example of galloping efficiency. I would love to see gait analysis on him. He is especially agile and balanced during landing from the jump, thus allowing high efficiency/ quality in his first stride after landing.

Very informative, many thanks for the comment :) If he can take that galloping efficiency with him to the race track then he could become a big player for the stable.

Thanks again
