The NTF Xmas Quiz!

Get your thinking caps on for the NTF Quiz....

With the National Hunt racing taking a battering from the elements at the moment it's time for me to spread some festive cheer with the 1st ever NTF Xmas Quiz!

It's important to keep those brain cells ticking in these sub-zero temps so get your thinking caps on and get stuck into the 12 posers I have set for you.

The winner of the quiz (drawn at random) will receive a free £5 bet for either the King George VI chase at Kempton or the Welsh National at Chepstow (choice is the winners). Should they fail to go ahead the bet will then be for any of the Cheltenham ante-post markets.

The quiz rules are easy. I have set out 12 questions below and all you need to do is answer them. Then from each answer you need to collect a letter (you will be told what letter) so at the end you have 12 letters. From those 12 letters you then need to spell out a name. The name you need to spell out is 1 of the following -
  • a famous racehorse
  • a famous jockey
  • a famous trainer
To make it slightly harder I'm not telling you what one it is!!

Once you have your answer you then need to email me at narrowingthefield_dosage@hotmail.co.uk with the subject header reading - NTF Xmas Quiz. All you need to put in the email itself is the 12 letter name that you think is the answer. Simple!

I'll give you an example question -

Example Q - If I used my 'English' keyboard to type this horse's name it would read QWERTYUIOP?
(5th letter of answer)

Example answer - AZERTYUIOP (you would take T for the final answer)

*In case anyone asks Azertyuiop was named because that's what the top line of a French keyboard reads.

OK? All clear? Good! Then lets begin the quiz proper.

p.s. All 12 answers are well(ish) known National Hunt racehorses from the past 10 or so years.

Q1 - There are only 2 options on this Irish hotels functions menu?
(3rd letter of answer)

Q2 - An 'impromptu' winner of the Whitbread Gold Cup?
(3rd letter of answer)

Q3 - He was a 'good friend' to have at Cheltenham?
(4th letter of answer)

Q4 - Do it or you're dead!!
(2nd letter of answer)

Q5 - Large Cash?
(2nd letter of answer)

Q6 - If you don't have one of these when you pee then you should probably go and see the doctor! (Clue: Has won a Hennessy)
(1st letter of answer)

Q7 - Someone whose job it is to give male chickens a lift?
(1st letter of answer)

Q8 - This American gem found the hill a step too far in 3 Gold Cup's?
(4th letter of answer)

Q9 - Courageous warrior from Peru?
(8th letter of answer)

Q10 - A dreary Monastary?
(8th letter of answer)

Q11 - This Pipe inmate was no 'fake outlaw'?
(11th letter of answer)

Q12 - Australian Bushranger/folk hero that never got the chance to prove his Champion Hurdle credentials?
(3rd letter of answer)

Answers must be with me by next Wednesday (22/12/10) and the winner will be announced on either the Thursday (23rd) or Friday (24th).

So get cracking and best of luck to you all!

Remember answers need to be sent here -  narrowingthefield_dosage@hotmail.co.uk
